One Full Shopping Cart

Grammie is in town and the babies apparently aren't quite ready to grace us with their presence, so we have been keeping ourselves busy. Of course this included shopping for baby clothes and new goodies, but today Grammie decided to make good use of our time and prepare meals for when the babies come home. We spent two hours in the grocery store going up and down every aisle twice with a two page grocery list. This is what we ended up with. The bagger was a young kid who was obviously new to his job and couldn't get everything back in our cart... he dropped and broke a glass spaghetti jar amoung other things all over the floor!

Let the cooking begin! Thanks Grammie, your food is our favorite :0)

Still Pregnant

Alright, alright. I give in. Here are belly pictures to satisfy the million requests I have had for them lately. This is 36 weeks and beginning to show the not so pretty side of going full term with multiples. (And thanks Amanda for the shirt... it's one of the few that fit these days).

36 weeks 2 days and still pregnant. We entered the 36th week (considered full term for twins) and found out the babies are estimated to be about 6 1/2 pounds this week. I am beginning to get out of breath and uncomfortable a lot easier than I used to as well, and have decided I am ready for these two to get here. I am not in pain and still consider this a very easy and comfortable pregnancy, but knowing the babies are healthy in size and far enough along to enter the world safely makes me ready for them to do just that! What better way to kick start things than to "walk" the mall with my mom. We spent the day shopping before my weekly doctors visit. The doctor laughed at our efforts and asked if I had jumped on the trampoline or been to the famous LA pizza place for a salad known to send women into labor. Obviously I have not gone this far, but it made me feel good to know even my doctor was okay with the babies coming anytime now.

Stick Figures

If you know me (or have seen my wedding or shower invitations) you know that I love stick figure people, so this week while I was home sitting around I pulled out some old canvases and paint and played. I found two old silver and gold frames that I transformed as well. The end result:

I painted a lamp , 5 frames, and some wall art for the nursery while I was at it. I will post pictures of the finished nursery hopefully soon (still waiting on Laney's bedding!).

Breech Baby

We have officially entered the safety zone with the twins! We hit 34 weeks on Monday! The doctor told us they would not do anything to stop labor from this point on. Although we are hoping to get to 36 weeks for their lungs, the babies should be healthy even if they decide to come today :0)

The Doctor did an ultrasound and guessed Laney to be 5lb 8oz and Dellan 5lb 7oz. His words exactly where it will be a "peeing contest" to determine who weighs more when they are born. I would love them to get one more pound on them, but cannot say I am looking forward to carrying anymore than 14 pounds of baby! They have been within an ounce of each other since the very beginning.

The babies have also both been head down since the very beginning, which was making me nervous about the delivery choice. I had decided to go ahead and try to deliver as long as things progressed in a timely fashion (I made sure I had the right to call it quits after 6 hours or so if things were not progressing quickly). Well, the babies had a plan of their own. Dellan must have decided he needed more room because he was completely breech at the ultrasound this morning! His head is straight up in the middle of my ribs and his butt is straight down. Although I know a naturally delivery is usually preferred, I have to admit I am a little relieved to know how these two will enter the world. Delivering twins is such a gamble, that I am calm knowing they will be C-section babies (and have round heads because of it!).

The hospital does not schedule C sections before 39 weeks, which I was not thrilled about as my children are following in their large fathers footsteps already, so we scheduled the delivery for 3-10-10 which is 38 weeks 2 days. I am not counting (or hoping) to get to this date, but they seem pretty comfortable in there so far! We were instructed to have our bags packed and head to the hospital as soon as any painful contractions or leaking water appear. I am getting anxious to meet these two little ones!

A work in progress

I have had so many people ask for pictures of the nursery that I finally gave in. It is by no means a finished product, but you can see where it's headed. The princess/baseball player coat hangers were a gift from a dear friend at my shower this weekend. I'm not sure where they'll end up , but they are such a fun and personalized gift! I am still waiting for Laney's bedding and a bookshelf to arrive before adding the decorations and pictures.

The room itself might not be done, but the closet sure is! Thanks to my sister who saved all Paige and Levi's "good" clothes for me, the twins already have a full designer wardrobe. Grammie loves to buy baby clothes, and between P & L's hand-me downs and Grammie's shopping sprees the closet is complete. The dresser and closet are organized with all their clothes through 6 months. 6 months plus are still in bins for later! I am so lucky to have my mom and my sister! How many first-time mom's have a baby closet that looks like this before the baby even comes?!?! The basket organization is all thanks to Grammie as well. Separated by his/hers shoes, hats, socks, and bows... yes, she already has a full basket of bows :0). The right side of the closet is all their preemie and newborn gear ready for them to get here! I'm not sure they'll fit into the preemie outfits, remember Paige and Levi were 3 pounds!, but I have a few just in case. Thanks Auntie Amanada!

33 Weeks!

We met with the doc this morning and everyone is healthy and strong. The heartbeats have dropped, which he says is a sign of maturity to be ready for the real world! Since I have had no contractions thus far the doc is hopeful we will get to 36/37 weeks. It is absolutely crazy and impossible to wrap my mind around the fact that this is only 3 weeks away! wow. I feel so unprepared/ready to be a mommy myself. My guess is most people feel this way before their first child. It is just hard to imagine the little ones actually here.

Our to-do list is coming along:

pediatrician............ check
register at hospital.... check
pack hospital bags...... half check
birth plan.............. check
birthing classes........ check (registered but not completed)
nursery................. check (minus Laney's bedding)
car seats............... no check (need to swing by firestation)
bottles, swings, pack n' plays, necessities set up.... check!

Now we just wait for labor or water to break... weird!

Socal Baby Shower

To view all the pictures from the shower in an album click here!

A huge thank you to my sister in law, Shannon, and dear friend, Sunnie, for hosting a perfect baby shower! I hadn't heard anything about the day before showing up, and I was blown away. The decorations and details were immaculate. They had custom ordered napkins, ribbons, and labels with the twins names on them. It was adorable! They had the playroom set up with burp cloths for people to paint. As you can see in the pictures, this ended up being the kids favorite part! Poor Sunnie may have burp cloths drying around her house for a month!

We snacked on delicious sandwiches, nuts, grapes, and sweets (notice all that green candy!) before having my all-time favorite cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes in Thousand Oaks. Sunnie's daughter, Jordyn, was a big help with the memory game where we had to remember all the baby items from a tray. Sunnie actually got me several baby necessities I didn't have yet (and the cutest two bibs I've ever seen) from this game... thank you! At the end of the shower we were asked to write "Laura" and "Tony" vertically on a piece of paper and come up with baby words for each letter. The guest who had the most matches to mine won. It is obvious I am a little concerned about the lack of sleep. My list was: laughing, awake, urinating, rattle, apple sauce, teething, onesies, and yawn (I can't remember my n!).

I received many items off my registry, but also opened some of the most adorable baby outfits and toys! It was a fun mix of needed registry items and super-fun goodie bags of cuteness :0)
