The Noodle
Laney is often referred to as "The Noodle" around here. She doesn't like to put any weight on her legs (where Dellan will stand and is much more stiff) and just "crumbles" when you try to stand her up. She also just likes to relax. Since day one she hasn't liked to be bothered. This includes moving her in any way. She gets over it almost immediately, but lets you know she would rather be left alone most of the time. This video cracks me up. I was taking it of Dellan talking with Daddy and couldn't help but laugh at Laney when I watched it. This is what Laney does as much as we'll let her. She liked to squish herself sideways in her Nap Nanny and just stare... at the TV or whatever else is around. Of course we make her do tummytime and playtime but this is Laney in her Happy Place...
Sleeping in!
The babies have given Mommy some extra sleep lately and of course I am loving it! I had to wake them up at 8am Sunday, Laney woke up at 815 yesterday, and at 730 today. We all seem a little happier in the morning with the extra couple hours sleep. Sunday (the first morning they had ever made it past 7, when I woke them up at 8) this is what I saw. Laney was at the bottom of her crib with her Woombie totally turned around. Woombies are really tight and stretch to the babies body, so how she got it twisted backwards is a mystery to me.

swimming
It was a hot weekend so Tony and I took the kids in the pool for the first time. They actually didn't mind it. I think it probably felt good to cool off, especially for Dellan who is always a million degrees and sweaty. Of course Laney cried for a second, but got over it as soon as the "shock" was over.

Happy Father's Day
Happy first Father's Day Daddy! We spent the day at Daddy's favorite place... the beach! The babies enjoyed a few hours in t he fresh air, until it got too windy in the late afternoon. Thanks to Grandma and Auntie Shannon they even took good naps. We came home for a few hours and then went to Vivoli for dinner. This is the tiny Italian place the babies had their meltdown at last month. They redeemed themselves and slept through the whole meal and woke up happy at the end. The waitress and owner knwo us when we walk in now and were happy we didn't stay away because of last time... or so they said! We had a great dinner as our little family of 4! The accordion player came over and played for the kids for 15 minutes.... including somewhere over the rainbow (our wedding song) and Happy Birthday (mine was Wednesday) for us. The babies were happy to sing and dance along.

A Few of Our Favorite Things
The babies have become so fun lately. They love to look at toys, grab things, and attempt to put toys in their mouth. They are happiest when sitting up, so they love to be in their bouncy seats, highchairs, or exersaucers. The babies are awake and playing about an hour and a half of every 3 hour interval of their schedule. They love to talk to me (or whoever is around)and sit in their bouncy seats while I show them different toys. So far their favorites are light-up, musical stacking stars and the pop-up toy with 5 little animals that pop out when you push a button. The noise scared them for a second and then they laugh! I have been propping the babies in their exersaucers with a few blankets so they get to "stand." I am not sure how much they love the toys around them as they cant reach for them yet, but they love being off their back. Their new favorite way to play is using the tray on their highchair. They don't have much of a reach yet, so I can put toys right on the edge of the tray and they can grab them. They are very close to putting them in their mouth. Their favorite small toys to play with themselves are a little stuffed rattle cow (thank you hand me downs from Auntie Amanda), the colorful plastic "hooks," a crab mirror, a super tiny little giraffe that came with one of Laney's Gap outfits, and their new blankies! I ordered them each 2 Angel Dear blankets this week because they were always grabbing onto their burp clothes or clothes. They took to them better than I could have imagined! They hold them all the time and bring them up to their face.
I am really wanting to get the kids out of their swaddles because they should start rolling over soon, and they can't be swaddled once they start rolling. I have tried during occasional naps to leave them unzipped in the Woombie, but they will only sleep about 5 minutes before waking themselves up. For this morning's nap I zipped the bottom half of the Woombie and left their arms out with their blankie. I went in 5 minutes later and they were both relaxed and cuddled. They slept just fine the whole nap! I'll keep this up for daytime naps for awhile and hopefully eliminate the Woombies altogether before it gets too hot this summer.
(Laney is having a bad hair day today!)

Highchairs!
The babies have been happiest lately when they are sitting up. I use our bouncy chairs like I used to our newborn loungers. The babies will sit in their bouncy seats and watch Baby Einstein (or any TV these days), play with you, talk to you, kick their feet, and generally be as happy as can be. They don't need the vibrations anymore (yay!) as I stopped when I started sleep training. I figured they would probably like new places to sit up and got out their highchairs for the first time today. The babies seemed to really like them. They tilt back so they can sit comfortably in them while they are still small. They are not quite coordinated enough to get toys into their mouths yet, but are so close. They are beginning to grab things and they can suck on their hands. Sometimes I will catch them sucking on their hand with a toy in it! I put some toys on the trays and the babies loved it! They stared at them and even grabbed them a few times. We even had our dinner bottles in our new chairs!
