A Few of Our Favorite Things

The babies have become so fun lately. They love to look at toys, grab things, and attempt to put toys in their mouth. They are happiest when sitting up, so they love to be in their bouncy seats, highchairs, or exersaucers. The babies are awake and playing about an hour and a half of every 3 hour interval of their schedule. They love to talk to me (or whoever is around)and sit in their bouncy seats while I show them different toys. So far their favorites are light-up, musical stacking stars and the pop-up toy with 5 little animals that pop out when you push a button. The noise scared them for a second and then they laugh! I have been propping the babies in their exersaucers with a few blankets so they get to "stand." I am not sure how much they love the toys around them as they cant reach for them yet, but they love being off their back. Their new favorite way to play is using the tray on their highchair. They don't have much of a reach yet, so I can put toys right on the edge of the tray and they can grab them. They are very close to putting them in their mouth. Their favorite small toys to play with themselves are a little stuffed rattle cow (thank you hand me downs from Auntie Amanda), the colorful plastic "hooks," a crab mirror, a super tiny little giraffe that came with one of Laney's Gap outfits, and their new blankies! I ordered them each 2 Angel Dear blankets this week because they were always grabbing onto their burp clothes or clothes. They took to them better than I could have imagined! They hold them all the time and bring them up to their face.

I am really wanting to get the kids out of their swaddles because they should start rolling over soon, and they can't be swaddled once they start rolling. I have tried during occasional naps to leave them unzipped in the Woombie, but they will only sleep about 5 minutes before waking themselves up. For this morning's nap I zipped the bottom half of the Woombie and left their arms out with their blankie. I went in 5 minutes later and they were both relaxed and cuddled. They slept just fine the whole nap! I'll keep this up for daytime naps for awhile and hopefully eliminate the Woombies altogether before it gets too hot this summer.

(Laney is having a bad hair day today!)
