Mommy Training Camp

I was thrilled to visit with my sister this weekend when she flew down to meet her niece and nephew. I decided to take advantage of her multiples expertise. Saturday was training day:

The first obstacle we tackled was feeding both babies at the same time. My mom has been living with us for a month, so she has done all of the middle of the night feedings and any daytime feedings I needed with me. She left today with my sister, so I knew this would be the most important skill to master. It was actually very simple! My sister handed down all of her baby gear, so she just had to show me the tricks she had learned. Here we are Saturday morning trying out our new feeding routine for the first time, and later in the day making sure I could do it on my own. Today my plan is to breastfeed one and bottle the other at the same time. This would eliminate the 20 minutes of pumping after feeding which would be so nice. I'm sure I'll have some funny stories to come on how this goes...

Next up was bath time! My mom had helped me give them sponge baths, but Laney woke up with a clean belly button, so she could have the real deal! She was not so thrilled about the experience to put it lightly. I don't think I've heard her scream like that since the minute she was born. Dellan has to stick to a sponge bath for a few more days.

Mommy had never tried the Newborn Loungers before. Auntie showed us they are not only good for feeding, but for "lounging"as well! Can you find us in all our Camo?

To finish off the day we went on our very first outing! I figured the numbers were in our favor 4-2, so we headed to our favorite restaurant, Kings, for dinner. The babies slept the entire time without so much as a wiggle. I am still not comfortable taking them out in public due to germs, but we had a pretty open table and kept them covered. It was nice to get out of the house for a minute, but I am very cozy and comfortable with them staying inside our new house as well!

Thank you Grammie and Auntie Amanda, We love you!

Sounds like you had a great time! Amanda was SO helpful with me too--not sure what I would have done without her help! I can't wait to see these babies in person. Amanda said you're coming this direction in May while we're in Maui! :( That stinks.
